Been a long while …

Hello beeps!

It has been a long while since I posted. I am sorry 😦

I have however started a new blog, one that is fresh and new and about the girls.

If you want to follow, maybe have a laugh sometimes and see some ridiculously cute pictures of my girls head on over to

Happy new year!

Well I have somewhat neglected my blog over the last several months.

Things have been a touch busy! Being a mom is like nothing I have ever done before. Being a mom is extremely hard however one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had.

The girls are doing phenomenally well. They are acting more like they’re real age rather than their adjusted age.

Unfortunately this Christmas has been plagued with sickness. Both girls have RSV. Seeing your babies not being able to breathe and fighting to grasp air while coughing is incredibly hard. Standing beside the doctor when they tell you that your babies might have pneumonia and will have to stay overnight at the hospital is gut wrenching. Luckily we did not have to stay overnight and were able to go back the next day for a check up.

The girls are 20 weeks and are laughing and smiling and picking things up and of course sucking on their hands all the time!

This time last year we were six days away from transfer. Quite the difference that is for sure.

Here are a few pics 🙂

Happy New Years!

Life as a new mom

Well life certainly is different now. I live my day in 3 hour increments. And I couldn’t be happier.

Wake up and feed, pump, shower, eat, put laundry in, putter around DING 3 hours are up and it is time to feed again. It makes the day go by fast that is for sure. The days, weeks and now months are flying by. Time should just slow down, except at night when the girls don’t want to sleep, that doesn’t have to slow down!

Something that I never thought to even think about before has now happened. I pump with the occasional breastfeed and sadly my supply is dwindling. I have been trying all the tricks and tips and have resorted to taking medication. I am trying to keep up with the girls but I think that formula is in their near future. This made me very sad for a few days and then I thought I have made it nearly 2 months, and really I will keep pumping as long as I can and they will still get breastmilk for as long as possible.

I hope that everyone has a fantastic thanksgiving 🙂

Settling into our new life :)

It is amazing how life literally changes in the blink of an eye. The girls have now been home for 1 week and are 3 weeks and 1 day old.

We have had some trial and errors with feeding and bed time and our routine but I think we are starting to get the hang of things.

Noah has been home all week and goes back to work on Tuesday and I am not looking forward to that day. It seems so nice and calm with both of us home. Luckily my mama will be able to help the first week that he is back but then I need to get into my own groove.

Here are some pics! 🙂

The girls arrival :)

The girls have arrived! They were exactly 34 weeks old.

So my story started on Thursday night. Noah had just left and the nurse wanted to do another NST before bed. I was left on for 1.5 hours and Emersyn kept having dips. So I was moved to labour and delivery as they have 24 monitoring. I went through about 3 more hours of monitoring. There began talks of delivering that night but nothing was for sure. I decided to call Noah and tell him to come back. So he loaded up and came back. He was there for about an hour when the team came back in to discuss my options. In the end Emersyn decided for us as she has a couple of more dips. I was prepped for a c section. The c section itself went off well with my two little ladies appearing a minute apart. Then it went downhill. I had something called placenta acreta which is where the placenta attaches to the uterine wall. Well lucky me it happens on both placentas. They started to cut them away and I started to loose blood and quickly. They called for a blood transfusion and they began that while the head doctors and anestologist were called. There were many doctors in the OR and they asked all students to step aside. There were 4 main doctors working on me plus many nurses including my own and then about 5 anestologists who were putting in another iv on one side for blood transfusion and then something called an art line on the other side. That probably hurt the most! Throughout it all Noah was able to sit with me and be there for me. I actually wasn’t panicking because the NICU doctors had already said that the girls were doing great and didn’t need oxygen. I closed my eyes and just knew all would be well. They placed a balloon inside of my stomach to stop/drain the internal bleeding. They finished up the surgery just as the spinal wore off and I was move back to Labour and Delivery to wait for my next procedure where they would fill my stomach with a gel type material so that if there was internal bleeding it would be taken care of. I then had to remain in bed for at least 24 hours to make sure I had no bleeding. Once I had my balloon and tubes removed I was allowed to see the girls however I failed on my first attempt due to severe gas pains running through my shoulders.

In the end we didn’t need the hospital because the girls and I were high risk, we needed this hospital to work on me for something I didn’t even know I had. I was told by my nurse that if I was at my community hospital I may not be sitting here today which is a little scary to hear.

The girls are doing wonderful and have already been transferred to a level 2 NICU from and a level one and I was discharged yesterday. We are now going to get into a routine with the new hospital and go from there.

So close!

Hello everyone! I have been MIA for a little while as we went back to hospital for 7 days and since then, there every day. The girls are still small but they are mighty.

I have had a couple of goals, 32 weeks, 33 weeks and then finally 34 weeks. This coming Friday will be 34 weeks and the girls will be coming via C section.

I will still have daily monitoring until then and we are hoping that they stay in there until Friday. My doctor is coming in especially to deliver them which is very exciting to me.

I will update once they have arrived safely 🙂

Hello from the hospital!

Hello everyone, I have not updated in a while but I do have an update now.

I have been admitted to the hospital with high blood pressure and because the little ladies are quite small. Their tummies are small and it seems my placentas are not quite doing their job. So I am here trying to get my blood pressure down, doing a 24 hour urine collection and getting steroid shots for their lungs. I am so hoping I get to go home and continue bed rest there but we shall see what today brings.

My goal is to make it to 32 weeks (today I am 30w1d). So I will keep pressing towards that goal.

Here are a couple of pics for you 🙂 yesterday morning at home and then in the afternoon getting some tests done before I was told I was staying.

Oops forgot to update

We had our 27 weeks scan last Friday and both girls are doing well.

Adigail is 1 pound 13 ounces and Emersyn is 2 pounds. Adigail was practising her swallowing and was taking big gulps of fluid.

It is hard to believe that in less than 10 weeks they will be here. I get rather emotional when I really stop and think about it.

Here are some pics 🙂

24 weeks today!

Today is an exciting day, the twins have reached viability ❤️.

They are both moving a lot more. It seems that Adigail is awake during the day and Emersyn at night. Hopefully they both get on the same pattern for when they are born! But in the mean time I am enjoying all kicks, rolls, punches etc.

The nursery is completely empty now, carpet gone, trim gone and new window ready to go in. I know what I would like for painting and mural now to just get it done!

Hope that everyone has a great weekend!

23 weeks today :)

We are 23 weeks today. Went and saw the girls (yes they are still girls) and they are doing well.

Baby A – Adigail is 1 pound 3 ounces and is head down and kicking me often in the ribs now.

Baby B – Emersyn is 1 pound 4 ounces and she is head up. She kicked her sister right in the head during the ultrasound.

I have now gained 20 pounds but have been steady for the last 3 weeks. Apparently now that the babies start to pack on the pounds so will I! Eek!

Have a great weekend everyone!
